What War Does to Some US Soldiers

March 5, 2008 · 4 Comments

Just in case you haven’t seen it yet, its the rage, and I mean that literally, of You Tube.

WARNING: If you like dogs you don’t want to see this. The dog squeals all the way down.

But when you consider the likely fate of this puppy, think about the mental state of the soldier and his buddy who so casually killed this dog.

Remember the famous scene in Apocalypse Now where the US soldiers kill an entire Vietnamese family because they thought they were hiding a bomb and it turned out to be a little puppy, which survived and was adopted by the soldiers?

So now the puppy gets wasted too.

Thanks for reading. We don’t agree on much, but we seem to know weak political calculations when we see them.

    Hope your son is OK.

Thanks, just got back from the hospital. He seems to be improving steadily but will be there for several days.

We send young, emotionally immature boys into unfamiliar cultures, give them impossible tasks to perform while living under the fear of death. They see their friends killed and maimed in more variations than were ever imagined in the most violent of video games. We command them to do things that they are most horrifically aware are not just immoral, but unquestionably evil. We tell them that if they do not do these things they are traitors and will be punished for their disobedience.

And then we wonder at the cruelty of this kind of video.

Our sons and daughters should be at home.
